Each year the Captain chooses a charity to fundraise for and Dave's choice was local charity, Dr Kershaw's Hospice.

Dr Kershaw's Hospice provides free, specialist, end-of-life and palliative care (an area of healthcare that focuses on relieving and preventing the suffering of patients) for adults with life-limiting illnesses in Oldham and its surrounding areas in a peaceful and homely environment. Dr Kershaw’s Hospice has a long history in Oldham dating back to over 100 years ago when Dr John Kershaw, a local GP dreamt of creating a hospital for the people of Royton. The hospital opened its doors in 1931 and after 50 years, Medical Director, Mr Naru Hira launched an appeal to create a hospice in Oldham. With generous community donations along with Dr Kershaw’s legacy, Dr Kershaw’s Hospice officially opened its doors in 1989.

Dave handed over the cheque to this years President, Mr Paul Harrison, who will pass this donation onto Dr Kershaw's on behalf of Dave and CRGC.

Well done Dave, great work to raise such a fantastic amount for a wonderful cause and thanks to everyone who contributed.
